Fever reducers: What works?

Hi all! I'd like to know what treatment you prefer to lower a fever.

There are lots of choices, such as acetaminophen, aspirin, or NSAIDs, so I want to know what gives you the best results.
Do you usually go for over-the-counter meds or do you trust home remedies along with them?
How long does it take for them to reduce the fever? Would love to hear your thoughts!
